Everything about the Trump initiative to dump people into the CECOT prison in El Salvador violates America’s Rule of Law. From their invocation of the Alien Enemies Act — a wartime authority used to deport noncitizens with little-to-no due process — to their willful misinterpretation of the Supreme Court’s order to facilitate the removal of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, this administration has demonstrated a flagrant disregard for the Constitution and fundamental legal principles. This shameful episode will go down in history as an appalling violation of human rights and common decency.
