Donald Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize the way a toddler wants candy at the checkout aisle: loudly, constantly, and with zero regard for how ridiculous he looks. The White House press secretary now treats Nobel lobbying as part of her daily job description, shoehorning “Trump deserves the Nobel” into briefings as if it’s a new constitutional amendment. Trump himself has posted about the prize nearly every week this summer, and he even brought it up in a call with Norway’s finance minister, ostensibly to discuss tariffs. Somewhere in Oslo, the Nobel Committee is trying to hold back laughter and asking, “Is this guy serious?”
