Stalemate

I completely support blue states’ efforts to fight fire with fire on redistricting right now. When Republican-controlled legislatures aggressively gerrymander their maps for partisan gain, it’s only natural that Democratic states feel compelled to answer in kind. You can only get punched in the face so many times before you stop preaching restraint and start swinging back. But let’s not kid ourselves: this practice doesn’t end in victory for democracy. It ends in a stalemate—a distorted, rigged equilibrium where both sides carve up the map to protect their own power and voters are left staring at lines that make a mockery of representative government.
