If you want a snapshot of a political movement losing its bearings, look no further than the MAGA reaction to Donald Trump’s polite, professional meeting with New York’s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani. For a faction that worships “toughness,” “strength,” and “telling it like it is,” the sight of Trump smiling and speaking civilly to a politician he once called a “communist lunatic” appears to have knocked several influencers into an existential crisis.
