When Donald Trump endorsed Ken Paxton for the U.S. Senate, he didn’t just pick a candidate. He made a statement about what matters in today’s politics. And what doesn’t.
Paxton is not a controversial figure because of policy disagreements. He’s controversial because of his record. A record that includes years of legal troubles, an indictment on securities fraud charges that lingered for nearly a decade, and an impeachment by his own party in the Texas House over allegations of corruption and abuse of office. That’s not opposition research. That’s reality.
