For over a year, Cornyn did everything short of legally changing his name to “John Trump-Cornyn.” He voted with Donald Trump 99% of the time. He reversed long-held positions to align with Trump’s priorities. He posed with Trump, praised Trump, studied Trump, literally posting a photo of himself reading The Art of the Deal like it was scripture.
And then, in what can only be described as a breathtaking act of political devotion, he proposed naming a highway after him. Not a building. Not a plaque. A highway. “Interstate 47.” The Trump Interstate. A stretch of asphalt long enough, presumably, to accommodate the ego it was meant to honor. It wasn't enough.
