Dealing with increasingly frequent natural disasters is difficult enough, but it's doubly hard when you also have to deal with the incompetent arrogance of those in political power who are supposed to warn about and mitigate them. There are many possible explanations for the slow response of this administration to the disaster in Texas: excessive bureaucratic hurdles, political indolence, inexperience... However, the fault does not lie with FEMA itself, but rather with those currently in charge of it, who have even threatened to eliminate it.
