If you see something catching fire in your house, you run to get the fire extinguisher or call the fire department, but closing your eyes to the flames will not prevent you from getting burned in the end. Even if the house that is burning is your neighbor's, and that's why you do nothing, in the end the flames will also end up devouring yours. Nothing contributes more to the spread of evil than the inertia of good.
