Every authoritarian politician has sycophants. They are docile and obsequious toward their masters, but toward the rest of the people, they can be even crueler than their bosses. All to prove their “worth” to them. Ironically, they are often the first to fall from grace when the inevitable moment arrives when their beloved bosses need a scapegoat
