Dallas Mavericks owner, casino magnate, and prolific GOP donor Miriam Adelson encouraged President Donald Trump to seek a third term during a Hanukkah reception at the White House last week—despite the U.S. Constitution’s explicit two-term limit for presidents.
Standing beside Trump at the podium, Adelson told the crowd she had consulted attorney Alan Dershowitz about the legality of Trump serving another four years. “I say, Alan, I agree with you, so we can do it,” she said, prompting chants of “Four more years!” from attendees.
Leaning into the moment, Adelson whispered to Trump before he announced to the audience that she had pledged “another $250 million” if he were to run again. “I will give,” Adelson confirmed.
