It is often said, half jokingly and half seriously, that when Cain killed Abel, he wiped out 25% of the Earth's population. Why did he do it? Envy and jealousy. Cain couldn't stand that Abel had recognition he didn't. Quite childish and petty, isn't it? However, it is very similar to what we are seeing today when a president threatens to unleash an international conflict with unforeseeable consequences for the world just because he was not given an award he believed he deserved.
