It is one thing to defend a political movement because you think, even naively, that it aligns with values that matter to you, and quite another to continue defending it when that political movement begins to do the very thing you claimed to oppose. This only demonstrates that you were either more foolish than you initially appeared or that the values you claim to uphold were as false as the politicians you continue to follow.
